What is Interventional Radiology?

Interventional radiology is a specialized branch of medicine that conducts minimally-invasive procedures using specialized tools and technology to diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions and diseases. Utilizing advanced tools and technologies such as ultrasound, fluoroscopy, digital subtraction angiograms, catheters and wires, interventional radiologists are able to access and treat affected areas of the body with precision and accuracy.

This approach allows for faster recovery times, fewer complications, and less discomfort for patients compared to traditional surgical methods. This includes medical imaging technology like x-ray, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, fluoroscopy, and the insertion of catheters or wires.
